Mathura to Vrindavan Travel by taxi

The distance between Mathura to Vrindavan is only  15 kilometers and the easiest transportation to take between Mathura and Vrindavan is a taxi. The taxi takes about half an hour to traverse this distance and the fare charges is in the range of Rs 150-200 either side.

Mathura Vrindavan Travel by auto rickshaws

 The auto rickshaws charges are about half as compared to taxis, but take 10 to 15 minutes more to reach Vrindavan. These rickshaws are freely available and a little bargaining with them is sometimes better on the pocket.

Shared autos

From the Mathura railway station there are often very crowded shared motor rickshaws (tempos) that go to Vrindavan and charge Rs 10 per person. To get a tempo you may have to take a  cycle rickshaw to the main road and from there get a tempo. From the main road, shared tempos depart every few minutes.

Bus travel from Mathura to Vrindavan

Buses from Mathura to Vrindavan leave infrequently from the Old bus stand. It is usually much more convenient to take one of the regular tempos or an autorickshaw as compared to buses.

Meter Gauge train between Mathura and Vrindavan

Mathura and Vrindavan are also connect by meter gauge train. The small meter gauge train leaves Mathura Junction at 9 AM in the morning and  8 PM in the evening that goes till Vrindavan. The total travel time is about half an hour. On its backward journey the timings from Vrindavan are 9.30 AM and 8.30 PM respectively

The best option from the above mentioned is to to take a Rs 75 auto rickshaw ride from Mathura to Vrindavan.

Air

The closest International airport is in Delhi (150km, 3½ hr).

Train

There is no broad distance railway station in Vrindavan. The closest major railway station is in Mathura, about 15 kilometers away There is a meter gauge passenger train between Mathura and Vrindavan.

Bus travel from Delhi to Vrindavan

Buses to Vrindavan or Mathura from Delhi depart from Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Kashmiri Gate and from the Ashram bus stop in the southeast part of Delhi. Buses also depart from the Sarai Kali Khan Inter-State Bus Terminal, near Nizamuddin railway station in southeast Delhi at regular intervals of two hours towards Mathura and every half an hour for Agra.
