Guwahati Airport

Formerly known as Borjhar Airport, the Airport of Guwahati is now popularly known as Lokrpiya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Named after Assam’s freedom fighter and first CM after independence, Gopinath Bordoloi, the Airport also serves as one of the bases for Indian Air Force. It is a major hub for flights to “Seven Sisters” or the “Nine Perfect Jewels” of the northeastern India. Pawan Hans helicopter services connect Guwahati to Shillong, Tawang, Tura and Itanagar. The Airport has recently undergone cosmetic and operational changes to make is better equipped to handle the additional air traffic. The Airport Authority of India is working towards converting the Guwahati Airport into major International Airport of India, which will majorly connect to South-east Asia.

Guwahati airport to Railway station / city centre

LGB International Airport is situated 20 kms away from the Guwahati Railway Station and 18 kms away from the city centre. It can be easily reached through taxis or local transport buses. The travel time is about half an hour. Taxis charge between Rs 300 – 500 either side.

Travellers should reach at least 3 hours before the scheduled international flight and 2 hours before the scheduled domestic flight.
