This is emergency reservation scheme provided by Indian railways for train passengers planning their journey at the last moment may be due to exigencies or other reasons when normal tickets are not available through the reservation Tatkal (meaning: immediate) ticket booking facility is available on payment of extra charges on ‘first come first served’ basis.
